This is my favorite oatmeal cookie recipe, and I’ve tried a few in my years of baking. I recommend even eating them warm right off the pan!

Ingredients
- 1.5 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1 cup powered sugar

Instructions
- Triple sift: flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda
- Cream until smooth: brown sugar, shortening, eggs and vanilla.
- Add 3 cups rolled oats and 1 cup chopped nuts
- Chill dough (sometimes I skip the chilling process) then shape into walnut size balls.
- Roll in powdered sugar to coat, and place on greased cookie sheet.
